Size Cropping in Picaboo Editor
Picaboo products are handmade, which makes each one unique. To help you create a book you’ll love, we’ve added helpful warnings in the editor. One of the most important is the Crop Zone Warning.
The dotted line on your page marks the cut line (final trim size). Anything placed outside this line may be trimmed off during printing.
To prevent important content from being cut off, keep all important elements, such as text, faces, logos, and key parts of photos fully inside the dotted line.
Avoid placing critical details too close to the dotted line, as slight trimming shifts can occur during production.
Backgrounds and full-bleed images are different.
If you want a background color or image to extend to the edge of the page (with no white border), make sure it extends past the dotted line all the way to the bleed edge. This ensures that when the page is trimmed, the background prints cleanly to the edge.
You may see a warning if important elements are placed too close to the cut line. For best results, keep key content safely inside the dotted line and extend backgrounds through the bleed area.

On the cover, you’ll see the Wrap Zone Warning. This marks extra space around the edges that will be trimmed off when your book is printed.

Each book size and style has its own cropping. You can choose the size you’d like to order using the Size Cropping tool on the left. Turning on the Crop Zone will show you how cropping may vary depending on the size, paper type, or binding style.
For example, the images below highlight the difference:
1. The cropping for a 14x11 Classic Hardcover book with Standard Pages.

2. The cropping for the 14x11 Classic Hardcover w/ Lay-Flat Pages

You can turn off the Crop Zone Warning under Advanced > Guides and Snapping, but we recommend keeping it on. This helps make sure nothing important—like part of a photo or someone’s head—gets cut off when your book is printed.

💡 Tip: Always double‑check your project before placing an order to be safe.
