How to Import Pages from a Previous Book
Learn step-by-step how to seamlessly import pages from one book to another for efficient content management.
Table of Contents
You can now import page designs and covers from their previous books into a new project. This feature allows you to reuse your existing layouts and designs instead of recreating pages from scratch.
How to Import Pages
- Open the new book project in the Designer.
- Click the Layouts button.

-
At the top of the Layouts menu, you will see two options:
- Save Layout (blue button)
- Import Page Design (white button underneath)
- Click Import Page Design.

3. Select the previous book you would like to import pages or covers from.

4. Choose the pages you would like to import and apply them to your new project by clicking on the page.
Note: When importing pages, the Designer will keep the original layout format.
- If the original page is set up as a spread, it will be imported as a full spread.
-
If you only want to import one page from a spread, make sure:
- The original page is set to Page format.
- The new project is also set to Page format.
This ensures that only the individual page design is imported instead of the full two-page spread.

Note: The Import Page Design button should appear active and selectable. If you are unable to select a Book, please verify that the original book and new book meet the requirements below.
Import Requirements
Pages and covers can only be imported when the original book and the new book are compatible.
The books must have:
-
The same book size
- Example: An 11x9 book can only import pages into another 11x9 book.
- A 12x12 book cannot be imported into an 11x9 or 8x8 book.
-
The same book type
- Seamless books can only import into other Seamless books.
- Layflat page books can only import into other Layflat page books.
Cover Type Compatibility
Cover types can be switched between:
- Softcover → Hardcover
- Hardcover → Softcover
However, the page type and book size must still match the original project.
Examples
✅ Allowed:
- 11x9 Seamless → 11x9 Seamless
- 12x12 Layflat → 12x12 Layflat
- 11x9 Softcover Classic → 11x9 Hardcover Classic (same size and book type)
❌ Not Allowed:
- 12x12 → 11x9
- 12x12 → 8x8
- Seamless → Layflat
- Layflat → Seamless
If your book does not meet these requirements, you will need to recreate the pages manually in the new project.
